about

‘Absolutely brilliant’ - Ed Smith, Today FM
‘Riff heaven’ - GBHBL

Having achieved a number of national radio plays with their previous single, ‘Fight Addict’, on Ed Smith’s show on Today FM, Box Clone have shown that their music is versatile and appeals to an ever-increasing audience. As well as regular slots on regional stations around Ireland, their music has also been picked up around the globe with appearances on 91X and HaleFM, based in San Diego and London, respectively.

Hot off the heels of their recent high-octane performances in Whelan’s and The Sound House, Dublin, Box Clone keep their foot on the gas with their latest release. ‘Who Are You’ gets straight to the point, kicking off with a piercing snare crack that leads into a bouncing guitar and synth-bass riff which form the backbone of the song.

Like all of Box Clone’s material to date, much of this song was recorded and mixed by guitarist and frontman Oggan, with guitar, bass, vocals, synth and additional percussion being laid down in his home studio in Cork. For drummer Colm Jennings’ parts, the group headed to Monique Studios in Middleton, where the sessions were engineered by Christian Best (Mick Flannery, SAL, Paddy Dennehy).

Oggan talks about the meaning of the song: ‘It's about pressing forward despite people causing unnecessary problems and drama. Like, just get on with it! Who are you to tell me how to handle my business?’.

This latest offering from the group keeps the energy high from start to finish, incorporating an almost tribal chorus chant blended perfectly with Box Clone’s trademark heavy riffs and metronomic drums.

Box Clone play Fred Zeppelin’s, Cork on 13th April and The Workman’s Cellar, Dublin on 28th July. Tickets €10 and will be available on eventbrite.ie.
